The high-end Akkar Churchill 812 ORCAP over/under superposed 12-gauge shotgun features a cut-down, low-profile engraved hand-oiled walnut stock wrapped around a blued receiver and barrel. But its namesake characteristic is its Organic Chemical Akkar Process (ORCAP). Akkar developed and patented this process to finish selected metal surfaces with an environmentally friendly highly durable layer.

What else? This break open shotgun features a mechanical trigger, auto ejectors, an auto safety, a red tube fiber optic atop the muzzle and finely detailed matte checkering on both the forearm and grip.

Let’s discuss this gun’s details. First, Akkar is based in exotic Istanbul, Turkey! Turkey has NATO’s second largest military (after the USA’s), and is noted for producing a wide variety of interesting arms. Akkar also makes Mammut (Mammoth) triple barrel shotguns!

Akkar started operations in Istanbul in 1989. It has a state of the art production facility. Guns and components are designed using CAD/CAM from the outset, and the company is ISO-9001 certified, a testament to its success in the quest for very high quality. It’s not a mere assembler, but an actual producer of firearms. The company is vertically integrated and makes its own components.

The Akkar Churchill 812 ORCAP has two versions: 28” barrel with a 47.2” overall length and 30” barrel with a 49.2” overall length. Both have a 14.37" length of pull while weight is 6.9 pounds.

The 812 ORCAP model comes with five extended MC-5 chokes. The barrels are matte blued.

The upper barrel is crowned by a vent rib that runs its length. Atop it is a fiber optic front sight. The ORCAP finished receiver is made of resilient steel. The walnut shows beautiful and luxury enhancing burls, lines and streaks. The forearm is beautifully sculpted with tumblehome flanks and checkering not only both sides and the bottom. But whoever designed this gun also paid special attention to the aesthetics, breaking the checkering into three separate eye-pleasing sections. Naturally, this checkering is matched by the checkering on the two sides of the grip. At back is a rubber recoil pad.
