The very affordable Akkar Churchill 220 Field single barrel 20-gauge semi-automatic shotgun features a cut-down, low-profile matte black receiver, matte blued barrel, a tumblehome polymer forearm, and a polymer straight butt stock. Capacity is 5+1, and the 220’s styling is a paragon of simplicity. Its black polymer parts visually meld together nicely and effortlessly with the metal ones.
The Akkar Churchill 220s are part of a portfolio that includes others such as the Akkar Churchill 812 over/under shotguns and the Akkar Churchill 512 side-by-side guns.
The 220s features an auto safety, a bead sight atop the vented rib and finely detailed matte checkering on both the forearm and grip. There seems to be nothing superfluous. The only concession are four subtle but attractive faux diagonal styling vents along the anterior flanks.
The upper barrel is crowned by a vent rib atop its length. Above it is a bead front sight. The matte black receiver is made of steel. The forearm is beautifully sculpted with bulbous flanks and checkering right where the hand falls. Naturally, this checkering is matched echoes that on the two sides of the grip. At back is a lightly skeletonized rubber recoil pad.
The Akkar Churchill 220 Field comes with MC-5 chokes. It has a 28” long matte blued barrel and the gun’s overall length is 47.7” while weight is 5.83 pounds. The gun’s length of pull is 14.25". There are also 24” (13” length-of-pull; 42.5" overall length) and 26” (14.25” length-of-pull; 45.7" overall length) barrel versions.
