The Rock Island Armory (RIA) AL9.0 is a stainless steel frame/black rubber grip 6-round 9 mm revolver. In fact, it’s essentially the same gun as the .357 Magnum AL3.0/AL3.1 fraternal twins except the AL9.0 is 9 mm, has a longer barrel, different sights (see below) and comes with a pair of moon clips for easy loading and unloading.

The AL9.0’s dimensions make it great for concealed carry. The 3” long barrel has a 1 to 17.9” RH twist and even a barrel shroud to help safeguard against accidental burns. The barrel is contained within a frame plus package combination about 7.75” long, 4.25” tall and 1.50” wide across the fluted cylinder. Unloaded weight is a neat 1.5 pounds, which jumps to 1.72 pounds fully loaded.

Sighting is done via a fixed tall front ramp sight that has an orange insert and a blackout rear notch sight that’s fully adjustable for windage and elevation.

Single-action trigger pull is 4 to 6.5 pounds while double-action it rises to 11.5 to 13 pounds.

The revolver has safety and design features to guarantee safety whether there are impurities in the cylinder, bullets are off the barrel, etc. The gun also has a drop safety.

The trigger is curved and sits in an egg-shaped trigger guard.

Finally, the grip is rubber with a deep undercut, three finger recesses and little mounds on either side, all of which combine for a comfortable, good grip.
