Rock Island Armory’s Rock Series takes the M1911 Series 70, incorporates new modern features as well as very modern production and manufacturing. The series spans .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 9mm and 10mm. It then provides this in many sizes, sights, color finishes and more. The result, per Rock Island Armory or RIA for short is, “most well optioned line of 1911 pistol built in the traditional 70 series design.”

Despite its all-American name, RIA is a division of Armscor of the Philippines. That county’s interest in M1911s goes back to the gun’s earliest days when it was often used there.

Rock Island builds all 1911s including its Rock series guns with banging tough 4140 ordnance steel. Part production is processed using automated computerized CNC machines programmed using CAD / CAM, etc. This creates very precise parts that are then hand-fitted with utmost attention to detail and tight tolerances. The result is impressive.

The front sights are typically red fiber optic sights.
