The Armscor Rock Island Armory VR82 is a modular gas-operated semi-automatic 5+1 capacity 20-gauge that is a smaller (shorter and lighter) brother to the very similar and very popular VR80 12-gauge. This tactical shotgun is an exciting fit for those who enjoy the ease of use of AR types. Since its 2021 debut, it has drawn fans for its light weight, ease of handling, impressive looks and features.

The VR82 barrel is 18” long, contoured and sheathed in a ported barrel shroud. It comes with a Mobil choke. And the ammo is in a detachable VR series box mag.

The black anodized aluminum handguard houses the gas-operated action and is flanked by ambidextrous controls. The receiver is crested by an integrated MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, and the gun features flip up sights in front and back.

The handguard design is lightening ported with an attractive and functional triangular latticework. Moreover, it has a quartet of M-LOK slots on both sides and short front Picatinny rail sections at 3, 9 and 12 o’clock. The VR82 aluminum receiver is black anodized for durability and chambered for 2 ¾” and 3" shells.

The VR82 features a tactical brace-style polymer Buffer THS thumbhole stock. This good-looking part has an inverted triangular thumbhole whose forward side is an integrated pistol grip with a middle finger groove and then another one for the two lower fingers. The Buffer THS continues forward to include the magwell. It has an oversize trigger guard so you can use the gun while wearing gloves. And the totality is backed by an excellent lean, black, rubber buttpad. Overall width is 2”, overall height is 7” while overall length is 38”. The VR82’s empty weight is 7.5 pounds which grows by a pound when fully loaded.

Armscor’s North American branch is based in Pahrump, Nevada. It imports many guns from its parent operations located in the Philippines but the VR82 is Made in Turkey by Derya Arms.
