Arsenal Incorporated’s SAM7R New Jersey Compliant Rifle is an all-black 7.62x39 mm chambered semi-automatic AK-type. This 10+1 mates a 16.3” chrome-lined barrel and milled receiver to a polymer furniture with excellent results its users love.

The SAM7R’s modernized AK-47 ancestry is immediately apparent in both look and feel, though it is far sturdier and more durable than the Soviet Cold War originals. The “R” denotes the gun’s side rail.

In front, the gun has a fixed (non-removable) four-port muzzle brake. Next, the heatshield under the handguard is a nice-looking piece of work with nice contours flourished with long horizontal and a few short vertical serrations.

In back is an intermediate-length trapdoor buttstock. Its 13.4” length-of-pull sits between the traditional short AK’s length of pull and something you’d expect on an AR-type.

The SAM7R features a hot die hammer forged receiver blank painstakingly fashioned through 5.5 hours of milling by parent company Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria with modern Steyr tooling. Hammer forging aligns the metal, strengthens the steel and eliminates internal voids (tiny bubbles) creating fantastic durability. Other hammer forged parts include the barrel, bolt carrier, and bolt.

The forend and pistol are both polymer. The forend has vertical grip serrations while the grip has horizontal ones.

The gun also features a bayonet lug, no accessory lug, side-mounted scope rail, cleaning rod, cleaning kit, sling and oil bottle. Oh, it also has an ambidextrous safety lever. The handguards are tough, durable black polymer, and you also get a stainless-steel heat shield. The black polymer pistol grip has a nice straight leg grip Arsenal also uses on many other models. It comes with a 10-round magazine.
