Pair of blue Colt .38 Super/.45 ACP semi-auto single-action pistols as package deal.
Colt No. 1) Very Good Condition: Colt Blue 1911 .38 Super, marked "Colt Super .38 Automatic" on blue-steel slide, blue-steel frame with 1911 flat-mainspring rear grip, 5" blue-steel .38 Super barrel with full-length stainless-steel guide rod, 3-Dot sights dovetailed front and rear, Pachmayr Signature Model black checkered wraparound grips, adjustable skeletonized trigger, spur hammer, stainless-steel thumb safety, high beavertail grip safety, (1) stainless-steel 8-rd. .38 Super magazine. Serial number is 163679. No box, no papers.
This Colt .38 Super 1911 has a few scratches on the slide and frame. It is clean inside and the bore is excellent.
Colt No. 2) Very Good Condition: Colt 1911-A1 with blue-steel slide marked "Colt Super .38 Automatic" on right side. On left slide, last patent date is "Aug. 13, 1913", 5" stainless-steel .45 ACP barrel, blue-steel frame with 1911-A1 arched-mainspring rear-grip housing and fingergroove front grip frame, black Pachmayr Signature Model checkered wraparound grips, adjustable skeletonized trigger, spur hammer, adjustable target rear sight, white-dot front sight, thumb safety, high beavertail grip safety, (1) 7-rd. blue-steel .45 ACP magazine.
Serial number on frame is 13719 which indicates it was made in 1912 for U.S. Army. The stamp over the magazine release is "WGP" for Major Walter G. Penfield, chief inspector for military production at Colt from 1911 until 1914. Therefore since it began life as a 1911, the "United States Property" stamp has been removed, probably to disguise it as "liberated" from the Army. Add-ons include a Pachmayr arched mainspring housing, Pachmayr grip and the fingergroove spike on the front grip, as well as a S&W revolver adjustable rear sight, adjustable aluminum 3-hole trigger and nonstandard hammer. Presumably it also once had a .38 Super barrel, which was replaced with a .45 ACP barrel. We do not have any of the original parts and no box and no papers.
This Colt .38 Super 1911/.45 ACP 1911-A1 has a few scratches on the slide and frame. It is clean inside and the bore is excellent.
We test-fired both these Colts and they both function perfectly, .38 Super and .45 ACP.
