Email me direct at Bert3006@cox.net or call me at 757-714-8778 or 757-401-9283 because my replies thru GB do not go through. !!! This is one of the finest lugers that I have seen in a long time !!!. This is a scarce two digit date '42' eagle L police luger. According to some research this was the last Police order in 1942 from Mauser consisting of 300 lugers in the serial # range 7901y-8300y. The serial # on this one is 8187y. Some were with sear safties, some wheren't. Some had serial numbered barrels, some didn't. This one has the hole in the frame for a sear safety but none was ever installed. According to research the factory making sear safties was destroyed by an allied bombing raid in 1941. I suppose that they installed what they could come up with. The barrel on this one is not numbered. It is all matching from my inspection. I have not stripped it down because I don't want to chance adding scratches, etc. The collector that I got it from said he had taken it apart once and the internal #s matched. A local gunsmith rated it 98%-98%+. Whatever number you assign it; it is a beauty and with 2 matching mags, marked 1&2, with eagle L on bases and fxo and P.08 on mag bodies with eagle/37. The frame is marked on left side P.08 and with the Eagle over N. Right side of frame with Eagle L. It has the walnut grips. The pictures that I have do not do it justice but they will have to do for now. There are several Banner lugers on the upcoming Rock Island Auction Nov.30-Dec.1,2, 2012. One is a Banner 1942 dated Banner with 2 matching mags. Est. Value: $7000-$9000. There is a '42 code Banner with 2 matching mags. Est. Value: $8500-$11000. FLASH NEWS !!!! " Results from RIA auction." The 1942 dated eagle/L luger went for $14,950, The mauser Banner two digit '42' dated went for $28,750. Both had holsters. *** Don't WAIT TOO LONG.!!! ****.
