Description for Item # 329429412

This is a PPK that I picked up at a local show and then posted on one of the Walther forums, as it was a FIRST for me. After the serial number, it has what looks like a Star of David. Upon posting, I learned that there were about 3-4 other PPK's reported, in the early serial range with this same symbol. I assumed it was some factory guard gun with the company logo on it - like the Theil factory variation. It was made in pre-war Nazi era. (Crown / N proof indicates before 1939) However, since my initial inquiry, I got information from an advanced collector that he was 100% sure that these were guns shipped to Israel after the war. Israel became a nation in 1948, and of course needed guns. He said, and Dieter Marshall confirmed that these guns were exported to Israel and import marked by Israel with the start of David. How it got to the US, I dont know. But it has no import marks and it is all original finish and matching. The finish is about 94-95%. The grip has the typical crack on the back strap. Comes with a wartime finger extension grip. Everything on this gun is original factory with the exception of the Star, which I assume was added in or around 1948. A rare collectible PPK.
