Description for Item # 329552775

This is a WWII Springfield 1903 rifle that arsenal rebuilt with a US Marine Corps Sedgley barrel. Serial number is 202301, which indicates the receiver was built in 1906. The stock is a finger groove "S" stock with two reinforcing bolts. Left side of butt has what appears to be "LRD," and faint circle "P" firing proof is present but no cartouche is discernible. Stock has normal dings and scratches but is solid as is the handguard. The bolt is a Remington manufactured bolt and is so marked as is the rear sight assembly and the magazine cutoff and the upper barrel band. The receiver has majority of arsenal reapplied gray green parkerized finish as does the floor plate and trigger guard. The barrel is marked "U.S.M.C./10-43/circle "S", which is a fairly early Sedgley barrel. The bore is shiny and the barrel gauges at 0 so this will be a very accurate shooting rifle.
