Description for Item # 329818845

Texas 150 year commemorative of the Texas Revolution. The slogan "Come and Take It" was actually coined at the Battle of Gonzales—the first battle of the Texas Revolution against Mexico where a small group of Texans successfully resisted the Mexican forces who had orders to seize their cannon. As a symbol of defiance, the Texans had fashioned a flag containing the phrase "come and take it" along with a black star and an image of the cannon which they had received six years earlier from Mexican officials. The little cannon fired the first artillery shot for Texas Independence which led to the Alamo and the later annexation of more land to the United States than all the shots fired during the American Revolution. 1836 - 1986 "Come And Take It" one troy ounce fine silver round.
