10 Gauge Beaufort Naval Armorers Elevating Mortar/howitzer.
Beaufort Naval Armorers manufactured only four of these remarkable mortars in Spring 2006. A very limited production was maintained. Four models were produced, two of which were Tobin bronze and two of which were professionally blued steel.
The military aesthetics are complementary and completely appealing. The two bronze elevating mortars were sold within one week of completion to avid cannon collectors. One of the black models sold within the month.
This listing is one of two that we produced recently using the same design. You enjoy contemporary fineness, this elevating mortar is for you. Everyone that has seen these is impressed.
Our machine shop's CNC programmer spent a month fine tuning and tweaking this design. This mortar design combines features from several iron bed mortars from the 17th and 18th centuries. It incorporates the modern breech loading capability for ease of firing 10 Ga. blank salutes.
The mortar barrel can be lowered and raised from zero to 45 degrees. The sliding breech mechanism accommodates 10 gauge blank shells for firing. This mortar is machined from solid carbon steel and the finish has been professionally blued.
The mortar weighs 16.5 lbs . Dimensions are 11” length, 5.25” width, and 4” height to 6.5” maximum height with the muzzle fully elevated. The outer diameter of the barrel is 3”. The length of the barrel is 6 7/8” and the outer bore diameter is 1.7”.
Note: This mortar comes with a very nice stainless wire rope lanyard device to assist with firing from a safe distance. Please also note that we have included photos of a recently assembled stainless steel model. Photos 20, 21 & 22. It is on hand here at our shop and is not included with this listing. Please inquire.
