Description for Item # 330446219

SPENCER CARBINE - CIVIL WAR MODEL – 56-56

This carbine was made by the Spencer Firearms company, Boston Mass, sometime between 1863 to 1865. The Spencer was one of the most sought after weapons during the Civil War. The butt magazine could be loaded with seven .52 caliber cartridges, allowing for quick firing. There were about 50,000 of these made during the Civil War. After the war many were altered to .50 caliber by sleeving the barrel and receiver. This carbine has not been altered, and is not as common.
The barrel length is 22 inches. The sites are 1860 model style. Overall the carbine is in very solid condition, and a nice representation of a weapon that had “been there”. A few notes on condition… The receiver frame had been cleaned at one time, but the Spencer stamps in the top are still clear. There is a crack in the butt starting behind the saddle ring bar, which runs to the butt plate. It is from the wood shrinking and does not go through to the other side. Sights are original. I do not know if the sling swivel is original. It fits nice but has a different finish. Serial numbers are strong. Action is great. Trigger function is great. Loading tube has some rust on the outer tab, but goes in and out smoothly. Overall a much better than average Civil War Spencer.

Returns must be in the original condition, and insured.
Refunds are less all fees, primarily shipping and insurance.
Shipments are only made to the United States, less California, NY City, Chicago or anywhere else restricted.
Seller has the right to void sales if payment is not received within five business days.
