Marlin Safety 1897 22 lever action, books tell me made in 1904, the pictures are the best description, i believe it has the correct rear sight which is adjustable by lifter or rear blade, takedown type, the foream has grooves in wood both sides i took forend metal cap off to show in pictures not cracked, wood was revarnished a long time ago, buttplate looks too nice to be the original, ask questions before bidding, i am not the original owner, it takes long rifle ammo I shot 25 rounds of CCI Blazer 40 grain long rifle in it on 08/16/12 and it shoots and functions fine it has a great balance, the only thing with it that I found it won't always eject unfired ammo but ejects fired ammo perfectly and so after looking it over found the tip of the cocking lever needs a little more weld build up to be tighter on the bolt and would get the extractor up tighter to lock on shells but when fired the casing pushes back into the bolt so , 08/31/12 i took care of the weld build up on tip of the lever today and now works perfectly ejecting unfired rounds, the front sight has been worked with pliers or something as such, looks like one screw not original in forend cap, shipping to 01 F.F.L of your choice, no c&r accepted, no sales to Wash. D.C., Cal., n.y.c., or wherever not legal own or to ship to by a non ffl, rest of continental states only shipping will be $35 insured and adult signature required, please do not offer less i will not respond, plenty of pictures thanks for looking, note because this a much older gun i recommend shooting standard or low velocity ammo because of the way they made bolts back then and from other people's advice, i think it's around 50% if you don't please don't bid, it has visible lands and grooves with pitting throughout inside of barrel rifling is visible but not deep towards muzzle end, it's accurate enough for me that i would squirrel hunt with it but won't so not to damage it then have to take different pictures and change this description, the bipod is not included, no paypal or plastic, postal money order please all other see picture description, postal money order appreciated, please have payment and ffl copy to me in ten days per gunbroker rules
