Description for Item # 331707475

This sword replicates the Gunto of a high-ranking Japanese army officer of the Pre-WWII and WWII era. These swords were made from 1933 onwards by a group of highly-skilled swordsmiths at the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo and are known collectively as the Yasukuni swords. Only 8000 of these swords were made and many were destroyed, so in recent years they have become highly collectable. Hanwei is producing these very accurate replicas for collectors unable to afford or obtain originals. The sword features Hanwei's own high-alloy Silicone/Manganese HWS-2S steel blade with outstanding hamon. This steel is made in Hanwei's new factory, with high-tech equipment, producing a very pure advanced-metallurgy blade with the best edge-holding capability and resilience of any blade ever produced by Hanwei. Hand-woven pure silk Sageo, with accurate Colonel-rank coloration. Paid retail price for mine from hanwei http://www.cashanwei.com/product/yasukuni-colonels-gunto/sh2445 ordered it while living in DC last year as I could not buy the firearms I wanted and I as a WWII collector could afford the real thing. Blade is highly sharpened from factory and fully functional. Blade and koshire are in perfect factory condition. Selling it to fund ammunition purchases. Pictures are from Hanwei at work now do not have sword with me able to take any pictures and email them to buyer before payment.
