Randall # 18 “Survival” Knife W/Sheath. Stock # SP COMM. One of several Randall knives we have for sale at Jackson Armory (see our other listings) this is a Randall # 18 “Survival” knife. It has the desirable 7 ½” long serrated blade, brass guard and hollow aluminum handle with a brass pommel cap. The blade is somewhat unusual in that it is carbon steel (most of the survival knives were ordered with stainless blades). The knife comes with a dark brown Randall roughback sheath with an orange India stone. We believe the knife to be of about 1980’s vintage, although it may be older or newer, we just do not know for sure. This knife was carried and used, it was not a ‘safe queen” I someone’s collection, yet it is in very good condition. The 7 ½” blade has been sharpened to almost a razor edge, and there are service and sheath marks on the blade, however the blade is still straight and shiny, and there are a few tiny service marks on the handle also. The inside of the hollow handle has fishing line and a few small hooks inside it. The screw-off brass pommel cap is plain, it does not have the compass or the skull crusher. The sheath is well-used with lots of wear, the stitching is all tight and intact, but there are a few rust spots on the strap. The snaps are not marked. The stone has been used. The sheath has a green paracord tie-down, which seems to be a recent addition, there is no paracord at the top. Overall we rate the knife and sheath at 85% condition. If you want a tough Randall knife to actually use in the field, or you want a Model 18 for a filler in your collection until you can upgrade, this is the Randall knife for you!
