Russian M44 dated 1946 manufactured at Izhevsk. I have had this in my collection wrapped for years, just removed from the wrap for sale to fund another acquisition. This rifle has a mirror bore. The metal all appears new, is very high percentage blue (almost factory perfect). The bolt looks new, the bolt face shows no marking from firing. All matching stamped numbers with Izhevsk markings. There are a couple of minor defects, there are three wood splices on the right side, the stock itself appears new, the splices puzzle me as I don't believe the stock itself is refurbished (shown in pictures, factory did these I suppose). The bolt will not close on a field headspace gauge (this is good, indicates no headspace issues, I have the nogo and field gauges). The firing pin tip is nicely rounded, has the correct projection and appears new. The rifle has not been fired since being placed in the wrap likely 1946. There are tiny CAI ST ALB VT import marks on the left side barrel shank and receiver. I will ship by USPS priority mail with insurance and tracking. C&R welcomed, must ship to FFL of some sort.
