Description for Item # 332983372

Vehicle Description 1978 Ford F-150 4x4 Pick-up with a "Custom Built Flat-Bed" ("NO" Reserve)... 351M V8 Engine, 4 Speed Stick Shift, 4 Wheel Drive w/manual locking hubs, 101,156 miles and only 2600.0 (approx) miles over the last 21 1/2 years! Garage kept since I have owned it. I am the 3rd owner of this truck. ***The ONLY Reason that I am offering this truck up for sale is that... I have lost my company car (demo) after 35 years in the automobile business and need the extra funds to purchase an every day driver for all seasons! I have this Truck Insured through "Grundy" Classic Insurance Company for 15K... Investment far exceeds asking price! The only way that I can accurately describe this truck is to assemble a time line of repairs since I have known this truck so please be patient with the below listed description... May 1991... Purchased truck from a mechanic that I had worked with at Eastern Hills Honda Village, he was the second owner with 98,500 miles and made the following repairs: New Tires (PR78-15LT Buckshot Radial Mudders) and American Racing Wheels (8 inch wide I believe) *RF has a gash (as pictured) approx 2" in length but "DOES NOT" leak air* It happened while being pulled up on the trailer to haul it to the dealership when the brakes became spongy and the master cyl/booster replacement ensued! *8 years ago! *New Crankshaft and Bearing Kit from J&L Perf, Lancaster, NY · Installed a "Rust Free" Southern Gas Tank · Installed New Front Brake Pads and Machined Rotors · Installed a New "Craig" AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio w/2 door speakers · Installed Spark Plugs · Installed New Fuel Filter and Air Filter · Installed a New "Auto-Meter" Liquid Filled 2 5/8" Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge · Installed Thermostat & Gasket, Flushed and Filled Cooling SystemAll work was done by Tom Simano, a certified Auto Mechanic and a nice young man. Tom was about to be engaged and married to Diane and sold the truck to me as he needed cash to buy her rings! (Tom had always called this truck "Beastie") Note: Tom and Diane are now divorced...I immediately "re-named this 4x4 GUMBY" and started with the following repairs:· Rebuilt 2V Carburator · Replaced Distributor (new) · Replaced Front Bumper (re-chrome) · Installed "New" Push Bar · Installed "KC" Driving lights w/proper wiring through a relay as to not have the on-off lighted rocker switch carrying the electrical load · Installed (4) New Rancho HD "Off-Road" Shocks...Adjustable front and conv. rear · Installed New Rancho "Off-Road" Steering Stabilizer/damper · Re-Located Auto-Meter Oil Pressure Gauge from the center of dash to the upper left location in the cluster · Fabricated and installed custom ashtray bay bezel and bracket for "New" Auto-Meter mechanical, 2 5/8" liquid filled temp gauge (not hooked up to engine) · Installed "New" Auto-Meter Tachometer · Replaced Valve Cover Gaskets. I Had a "Custom-Bend" Dual Exhaust System Installed... Aluminized Pipes with "Turbo-Flow" Mufflers...and Chrome Tips. Lifetime Guarantee (Nationwide) thru Meineke Muffler Shop.(Warranty Paperwork in Glove Box) Nice "Mellow" V8 Rumble...Not Loud just NICE!The Interior...· Totally re-painted and restored throughout by myself· Replace Dash Pad (used) same color green w/no cracks)· Replaced steering wheel with "Factory" (used) three spoke sport wheel with center horn button· Custom fitted (shrunk) and stitched Genuine Honda Prelude 3 spoke "Leather" Steering Wheel Cover· Replaced Pedal Pads (Genuine/New)· Replaced Shifter and Transfer Case Boots and Bezels (Genuine/New)· Re-Covered Seat, Visors and Headliner (Painted H/L Mouldings)· Installed New Black Floor Mat (LMC Truck)· Installed R & L (New and Genuine) Ford Sill Plates w'stainless steel screws· Installed 2 new Honda Tri-Cone speakers behind seat (4 speakers total in truck)· Custom "Hand-Painted" Dashboard Stripes by "Paul Straus", Kenmore, NYThe Cab...· Factory Genuine "New" Left and Right Doors · Southern "Rust-Free" Hood, and both Front Fenders and inner fenders · New Cab Corners R&L from LMC Truck · New Inner & Outer Rocker Panels from LMC Truck · Metal Patch rusted thru floor panel areas R&L · New Door Opening Weather Strips from LMC Truck. All Cab Body and Paint work done by Carubba Collision, East Amherst, NY (John Carubba and Heintz G)Glass... New Tinted and Shaded Windshield w/genuine factory weather strip · New Smoked Sliding rear Window w/genuine factory weather strip, Work done by Bison Auto Glass, Chuck LaMartina, Owner and one heck of an Alto Sax Player...(50's Band)The Flat Bed Body..."A Three Year Project"· Made by myself and a friend that owns a Collision and Fire Truck Restoration Business... · All box steel...Frame, cross supports and mounts to the frame of the truck · 5/4 Thomponized (special pressure treating process to prevent rot) with the ends painted and several coats of clear sealer for a natural wood finish · Stainless Steel Carriage Bolts securing the floor to a pressure treated 2x4 underneath in 2 locations for proper retention with out un-necessary metal drilling (like a sandwich mount) · Diamond Plate rear tail light panel w/ new tail lights and Back-up lights installed · Fabricated Mud Flap Brackets (Steel) and installed large rubber mud flaps · Rear Step Bumper sandblasted, sealed and painted by Joe Durrick, Tonawanda, NY with special brackets fabricated to mount the bumper lower and farther back to accomodate the longer body · I have included a picture of the flat bed's Right Front corner so that you would be able to see the guality welding and some pictures of the flat bed with out the flooring so that you would be able fo see how it was mounted to the truck frame. · I did also de-grease, scrape and wire brush the entire rear frame and surrounding areas before painting with "Chassis Black" (from the cab ...rearward)* Special Thanks to Gary Sager of "Sabre Custom" Orchard Park, NY for helping me make the flat-bed of my dreams become a reality!*** This Flat Bed Body is pretty much "Show Quality" with special attention paid to smooth seams and welding! The Engine...· Pretty much "Bone-Stock" and as you can see from the photo's and "DRY" · Runs Good...and strong for a 351M, handles well and shifts smoothly · Burns little or "NO" oil · Exhaust has a "Nice" V8 mellow rumble tone (not loud) · New Brake Master Cylinder and Booster (Reman)The only other item of note would be the Left Rear Leaf Spring...Has one creaked leaf (NOT The MAIN LEAF) and DOES pass NYS Inspection as is! There is so much more done to this truck than I can remember over the last 21.5 years but it has been a labor of love that I always referred to as: "Truckin on a Budget" ... Loose translation, you can't spend the mortgage or child support money on your toy! Thank You for looking, reading and "GOOD LUCK Bidding"* Please feel free to e-mail your questions or call me on my cell phone at 1-716-913-4825 (Verizon) should you need any additional information about "Project Pick-Up"... and e-mail questions are not a viable option! As previously mentioned... Investment far exceeds asking price! *I will keep truck stored in it's present location for 14 +/- days past the full payment date while provisions for pick-up or transport are being made! Mike... Thanks for looking and Good Luck Bidding! **Truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to this end auction if no bids are placed **
