Antique Victorian-Era English Ironstone Platter, Tronstone Longporte Manufacture. Stock # DJ COMM. This is a beautiful (albeit, somewhat damaged) Ironstone serving platter, made by Tronstone, in Longporte (their mark is on the back). Longporte, on the banks of the Trent and Mersy Canal, was the home of several famous Ironstone manufacturers. We believe this platter dates to the 1860’s, it is a fired blue with a fanciful Viennese scene and an intertwined blue border. The platter has a glazed back. This is a large and heavy platter, it is just over 18” X14”. There is some damage to the front of the plate – no cracks, but it looks like acid or possibly, salt water damage – who knows, this may have come off a sunken British Blockade Runner during the Civil War…….well….it came out of Texas, and anything is possible. Doing our research on this item we found similar Longporte pottery selling for many hundreds of dollars, but, of course, we can’t sell it for much, due to the damage (which may be restorable?). We do have a great idea for you – are you constantly nagged by your Significant Other for all the time you spend on Gunbroker or the Jackson Armory websites? Well…….buy this and give it to her, and say “Look Honey, what I got for you on Gunbroker!”….from that point on you will no longer be nagged……at least not about surfing GB! Due to the condition and extremely low price, we are selling this great platter AS-IS, NO RETURNS. ALL ITEMS ONLINE ARE SUBJECT TO PRIOR SALE IN OUR RETAIL STORE . Please do not send us an email regarding this item unless you have a sincere interest in purchasing it, thank you! Please call or email us with any questions BEFORE bidding on an item, your bid is a LEGAL CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE ITEM. All antique gun, ammunition, and edged weapons sales will require a copy of the buyer’s Driver’s License, proving age 21 or older, to ship. Please see our other listings for an eclectic assortment of modern and antique collectible military, civilian, sporting, and custom firearms, and we have many, many more guns (and swords, bayonets, militaria, etc.) not listed online that are for sale in our retail store, Jackson Armory, in Dallas (University Park), Texas, visit us on our own website, just do a Google search for Jackson Armory to find us online. If you live in, or are visiting the Dallas – Ft. Worth Metroplex please visit our store located at 3416 Rosedale, in Snider Plaza, Dallas, TX, 75205.
