The 20+1 capacity B&T semi-automatic APC 308 DMR carbine is an advanced 7.62 x 51 mm (.308 Win) built to tight tolerances around a locked rotating bolt gas piston operated system. B&T are the initials of Brügger & Thomet, a Swiss company based in Thun, Switzerland, which is spectacularly flanked by mountains and the Thunersee Lake.
The highly modular and configurable all-black gun is part of B&T’s APC lineup. APC is short for Advanced Police Carbine. It’s also ambidextrous, something both left-hand and right-hand users appreciate. Thus, it includes a folding ambidextrous bolt release charging handle, magazine release and safety/fire selector.
On the bottom is a M4-type pistol grip that has excellent horizontal serrations and a gentle palmswell. It also has a storage compartment. A hydraulic buffer in back expedites follow-up shots and helps maintain accuracy.
The receiver sports an integrated handguard. In other words, it’s a really long receiver that also houses the barrel, protects the hand, permits attaching accessories, anchors the sights, etc.! The “handguard” has a 1+3 NAR (NATO Accessory Rail) configuration. The NARs are like MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails but built with metric measures and to tighter tolerances. The top NAR rail is full length extending across the entire receiver top as well. It anchors the flip up emergency sights in front and back. The long top rail permits a wonderful 14.3” sight radius!
The gun is 2.63” wide, and the barrel is 13.0” long with a 1:12” twist ratio. The Rotex-IIA interface in flash hider is 3.8” long and duly does an excellent job of restricting muzzle blasts. In back is a triangular and almost tubular folding skeleton stock. Length of pull is 14.3”.
Overall length ranges from 34.4” with the stock fully extended back down to a more portable 24.0” with the stock folded neatly back into place. Even with the sights and a 20-round magazine, B&T states height at just 9.25” and weight at 8.6 pounds.
The gun comes new with two 20-round polymer waffle magazines. It also includes a vertical foregrip, manual, case, sling and a cleaning kit.
