The ultra-modern B&T semi-automatic carbine APC9K PRO G is an advanced 9x19mm built to tight tolerances around a closed bolt blow back system. The B&T stands for Brügger & Thomet, a Swiss company based in historical Thun, 20 miles southeast of Bern. APC stands for Advanced Police Carbine, 9 is for 9x19mm and K is German for Compact.

This all-black kit is an important part of B&T’s APC9 lineup. Like many other modern arms, it’s modular and the expression of further pondering and tinkering of how to make something better than its precedents. Clean-slate designs are perfect in the ideal world, but B&T has engineered the APC9K for real world practicality and acceptance.

To wit, the APC9’s lower receiver was engineered for compatibility with Glock 9mm double-stack magazines and for use by both left-hand and right-hand users. Thus, it includes a folding ambidextrous non-reciprocating charging handle, magazine catch and safety/selector.

The gun comes new with a double-stack 33-round mag. However, it’s also compatible with other Glock double-stacks, such as Glock’s 10-round, 19-round or 30-round magazines. This tactical flexibility facilitates logistics and magazine swaps with different types of guns. It also includes a manual, case, sling, cleaning kit and QD front grip.

The handguard includes four NATO Accessory Rails (NARs) at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions. These are like MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails but built with metric measures and to tighter tolerances. There are eight slots along the bottom and side rails. The top is far longer and serves as an anchor point for the 3.5 MOA Aimpoint ACRO P-1 primary sight and the flip up emergency sights in front and back.

The barrel includes a 1/2"x28 TPI thread. A hydraulic buffer in back expedites follow-up shots and helps maintain accuracy. The stock folds forward to the right.

The low-profile red dot sight is an impressive component with up to 15,000 hours of operation, six daylight and four night vision settings, and a 3.5 MOA dot size. It uses a CR1225 lithium button battery and can be submerged at up to 80’ and still work afterwards.

So this gun’s real beauty and standout feature is its compact size. The gun is 2.36” wide, and its sight radius is 8.66”, which provides generous sighting stability. The 4.33” barrel has a 1:10” twist ratio though the overall effect is much longer thanks to the integrated suppressor. The gun pairs with a 13.19” length of pull folding stock. Overall length is 20.95” though if you fold the foldable skeleton shoulder stock, it drops substantially to 12.68”. So yes, this compact lives up to its name. Even with the Aimpoint ACRO P-1 primary sight and standard magazine, height is just 11.6”, and weight is only 5.5 pounds.
