The combat gray Battle Arms Workhorse 30+1 is a 5.56 NATO AR-15 type built around a 1:7 twist 16” barrel. The value priced but feature rich semi-automatic is, as you’d expect, flexible and modular. It has plenty of great features and characteristics. The receiver is aircraft grade 7075-T6 aluminum. The free-float handguard is 15” long. Its tall latticework shape encapsulates the mid-length gas system and the .75” diameter gas block. But it also looks great and mates organically to the upper receiver. And it has a full-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail along the top and M-LOK slots along both flanks and the bottom.

The black nitride barrel is made of 4150 chrome-moly steel and ends in a 1/2”x28 TPI muzzle thread. Battle Arms individually head spaces each barrel with the 9310-alloy steel bolt that includes nickel, chromium and molybdenum and heat-treated 8620 black nitride carrier. The engineering and attention to detail makes for increased accuracy, reliability and quality.

The B5 Bravo 6-position lever-actuated stock is matte black, compact, and light. It has a grippy serrated lever, fits nicely and has an excellent cheek weld. The B5 Bravo permits changing length of pull by 3.25”, and thus the gun’s overall length is 33” to 36.25”. The Workhorse’s weight is 6.3 pounds.

With ergonomics, quality and feel in mind, the Battle Arms gun has an ambidextrous charging handle, a nickel Teflon trigger, an enhanced magazine release, a one-piece magazine catch, an enhanced bolt-catch, an ambidextrous safety selector, a user-set three-position pistol grip with a nifty looking grip pattern and more.
