Bergara’s Premier Ridgeback 5+1 / 7+1 rifle uses a fully adjustable for the cheek rest and length-of-pull tactical Grayboe composite M-LOK stock. Caliber choices include 6mm Creedmore (with a 1:7.5” twist ratio), 6.5 Creedmore (1:8”), 6.5 PRC (1:8”), .308 Winchester (1:10”), .300 Winchester Magnum (1:10”), .300 PRC (1:9”) and .28 Nosler (1:9”). The gun has a sub-MOA guarantee using factory match-grade ammo. The stock is made from a premium solid homogeneous fiberglass epoxy. Beyond furthering the gun’s objectives of high-accuracy, looks and light weight, this stock is also one of the first with integrated M-LOK slots.

Let’s talk dimensions.

The .308 Winchester weighs 10 pounds. It has a 20” barrel and measures 39.5” overall.

The 6.5 Creedmore is 24” long, measures 43.5” and weighs 10.2 pounds.

Next, the 6mm Creedmore and 6.5 PRC have 26” barrels. They measure 45.5” and weigh 10.6 pounds.

Finally, the .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 PRC and .28 Nosler also have 26” barrels. But they measure 46” and weigh 10.7 pounds.

The 5-round single-stack AICS-type magazine fits nicely through the bottom floorplate. Note: for 6.5 PRC caliber’s magazine is 7-round instead of 5-round.

The Ridgeback is a member of Bergara’s Premier Series. The lineup slots between Bergara’s already impressive stock rifles and its supreme Custom Series. The Premiers receive high-end premium components such as the lever manual safety that are often in the Custom Series but enjoy the benefits of mass production, lower cost, etc. thanks to greater efficiencies of scale.

Bergara makes the finished product look deceptively simple. But let your eyes adjust and take it in. From the stock’s hand-painted splatter of Sherwin Williams Polane T polyurethane-based paints over the base color to the spiral fluted bolt assembly, there is plenty that intrigues.

The one-piece 416 stainless-steel Bergara Premier action has two-lugs for speedy, secure lockups and a sliding plate extractor, a separate floating bolt head. The oversize conical bolt knob provides an extra bit of grasp compared to spherical ones and is Cerakoted for durability. Nonetheless it’s the stainless-steel’s spiral fluting that is most eye-catching. Additionally, the bolt stop and bolt shroud are Nitrided for self-lubrication and durability. It also has a spring-loaded sliding plate extractor.

The stainless-steel barrel has a Graphite Black Cerakote, a Medium Palma barrel taper and a 5/8-24” TPI thread and thread protector at the muzzle.

The gun features an externally adjustable TriggerTech Frictionless Release Technology trigger. There is a nice safety at back. What’s clever is it is integrated with the manual safety lever located by the bolt rear on the receiver’s right side. Pull back, and it’s in “safe” position. Push forward to ready in the “fire” position. But you can still maneuver the bolt in either position or easily unload the gun in safe position.

The Made in USA Grayboe stock’s forend has a quartet of M-LOK slots per side and four on the bottom. So that’s 12 M-LOK slots total. This gives you plenty of connection points for accessories such as bipods, tripods and MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny Rails. You might also note the stock is pillar bedded with aluminum pillars molded directly into the stock.

The forearm is wide and flat. It also has a vertical grip with a thumb shelf, and two buttstock flush cups. One is on the buttstock’s left, and one is on the bottom. The stock includes an embedded level, is ambidextrous and weighs 3.85 pounds.

Moving back is the stock’s most engaging part. The cheek piece is height adjustable. What’s perhaps especially clever is the racetrack oval knob that docks flush and securely into the stock as needed. The rear is backed by a 1"-thick Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Length-of-pull latitude is 1.25” that’s easily adjusted with the included spacers. Thus, total length-of-pull is 12.75” to 14", which should fit all kinds of statures. Moreover, you can purchase and fit additional LOP spacers.
