The Black Rain Ordnance AR-15 Rifle – Repoort Mr Ots is a high-end 5.56 NATO AR-type direct impingement semi-automatic rifle built around a 16” barrel, 15” handguard and MAGPUL MOE stock within a 32.5” overall length. Overall weight is 6 pounds 8 ounces.

The White Heavy Battleworn color covers the handguard and the upper and lower receivers and has an almost distressed look. It cleverly conveys a sense that it was a black gun that was painted all white, and that the white has worn off through heavy battle use. Of course, that’s the point, and it looks great.

For this AR-15, Black Rain uses a tough forged 7075 T6 Aluminum Upper Receiver coupled to a FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Lower Receiver. It’s a good looking, durable set that’s crested by a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.

This gun uses BRO’s SPEC15 BCG (bolt carrier group). It gets a salt nitride bath coating. It has a low-profile carbine-length non-adjustable gas block. Its 16” barrel is 4150 Chromoly that’s fronted by an A2 birdcage-style flash hider.

This gun has a 15” length “Slim” handguard. This Made in USA handguard has prominent BLACK RAIN lettering along the flanks and latticework on the diagonal surfaces. Its 1.35” inner diameter makes it a bit more maneuverable than the company’s own “Fat” handguards. The slim handguard has flank MAGPUL M-LOK slots and 3 QD accessory points, T-15 Torx mounting screws and more.

In back is a matte black MAGPUL MOE Carbine Stock that’s 6.9” long and is adjustable across a 3.3” length-of-pull range. The MIL-SPEC stock uses a simple latch lever actuated adjustment. MAGPUL calls this shape a streamlined A-frame, but triangular or “delta” would be more apropos. The skeletonized shape shields the latch against snagging. It’s backed by a .3” thick black rubber buttpad. It’s Made in USA (and, as MAGPUL points out, engineered in the USA as well). The gun’s length-of-pull can be set from 10.5” to 13.8”. The stock weighs 8.0 ounces without the receiver extension and 12.0 ounces with it.

The trigger guard’s convex ventral surface is gloved finger-friendly. It fits neatly between the flared magwell in front of it and the GI grip behind. Inside is a standard curved MIL-SPEC GI trigger. It has little play and breaks cleanly. The grip has texturing on the sides and vertical grip serrations in back. The grip includes an integrated beavertail for increased comfort.
