The Black Rain Ordnance AR-15 Rifle – Sniper Green Battleworn is a high-end 5.56 NATO AR-type direct impingement semi-automatic rifle. It’s built around a 16” barrel and Black Rain’s esteemed FALLOUT15 billet receiver set. Within its 32.5” overall length and 6-pound 6-ounce weight, it also has a very nice 12" M-LOK Slim Handguard, Magpul MOE Stock & Magpul MOE Grip that work in concert with a 7075-T6 aluminum receiver set.

The Sniper Green Battleworn color covers the handguard and the upper and lower receivers. Black Rain uses a FALLOUT15 forged 7075 T6 Aluminum Upper Receiver paired logically enough to a FALLOUT15 billet 7075 T6 Aluminum Lower Receiver and mates them to MAGPUL MOE peripherals. It’s a good looking, durable set crested by a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail.

The SPEC15 BCG (bolt carrier group) gets a salt nitride bath coating for enhanced durability. The gas system uses a low-profile carbine-length non-adjustable gas block.

The gun’s overall length is 32.5”, and it weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces. The 16” barrel is 4150 chromoly. It’s 12.5” long and is fronted by an A2 birdcage-style flash hider. The barrel shelters in a 12” long, 1.75” interior diameter M-LOK hybrid handguard. What’s particularly clever about the handguard is its crest. It starts with a Picatinny rail, which drops away in the middle but sprouts a few more Picatinny rail slots in back. This line integrates nicely with the Picatinny rail atop the upper receiver. The totality provides ample room for accessories.

a matte black MAGPUL MOE Carbine Stock brings up the rear. It’s a triangular skeletonized MIL-SPEC stock with a simple latch lever actuated adjustment. MAGPUL refers to this shape as a streamlined A-frame. The shape shields the latch and defends against snagging. It’s backed by a .3” thick black rubber buttpad and Made in USA. As MAGPUL points out, it’s engineered in the USA as well.

The MAGPUL MOE stock is 6.9” long and is adjustable across a 3.3” length-of-pull range. Thus, the gun’s length-of-pull can be set from 10.5” to 13.8”. The stock weighs 8.0 ounces without the receiver extension and 12.0 ounces with it.

The trigger guard’s convex ventral surface provides ample room for gloved fingers. It fits neatly between the flared magwell in front of it and the MAGPUL MOE grip behind. Inside is a standard curved MIL-SPEC GI trigger. It has little play and breaks cleanly. The grip has texturing on the sides and vertical grip serrations in back. The grip includes an integrated beavertail for increased comfort.
