The Browning Citori Lightning over and under shotguns are beautiful, reliable, durable and seem hand-crafted in fit and finish. The lineup includes the Citori White Lightning, Citori Feather Lightning and Citori Gran Lightning. These guns span 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge and 410 bore with polish blued barrels that are 26” or 28” long.

Except where noted, all models feature goodies such as a chrome chamber that’s anti-corrosion and more durable. These models also get an ivory bead front sight, beautiful flourishes over the receiver flanks and grip checkering in pennants with slightly organic shapes that harmonize with the receiver flourishes.

The 12 and 20-gauge come standard with three Invector-Plus interchangeable choke tubes, which are Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder (F, M, IC). They also feature VectorPro lengthening using forcing cones for improved shot pattern performance. The 12 and 20-gauge lineup members feature back-bored technology, which increases the inside bore to reduce shot deformation and increased patterning.

The 28-gauge and 410 bore come with Standard Invector Midas chokes that are also Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder (F, M, IC).

This series enjoys elegant lines. The “Lightning” moniker is from the curved grip’s rounded knob pistol grip bottom versus the flat or at least flatter bottoms seen on most other guns. The forearm is also rounded in a nice way that optimizes grip and control for trap shooting. These guns have automatic ejectors to eject fired hulls, inertia triggers that use the first shot’s recoil to reset the hammer for the second, and a locking bolt and hinge pin!

The lineup starts with the satin finished Grade III/IV black walnut Citori White Lightning. It covers all four gauges in both barrel lengths. The 1/4" rib is beautifully bridged over the top barrel and has a 60/40 POI optimized for floating the target just a tad. Overall lengths are 43” and 45” respectively. Length of pull is 14 1/4", drop at comb is 1 5/8” and drop at heel is 2 1/2". The “White” label comes from the silver nitride receiver coating that does a great job showcasing the etching. The main non-walnut components are made of steel. This includes the machined steel receiver and steel barrel.

The stock is strong has beautiful lines that flow one section effortlessly into the next. The gun features a large soft matte black rubber Inflex 2 recoil pad in back. You also get 18 lines per inch (LPI) checkering for assured grip in front and back. Weight ranges from 6 pounds 12 ounces for the 26” 20-gauge up to 8 pounds 2 ounces for the 12-gauge with the 28-gauge and 410 bore falling in between.

The Citori Feather Lightning is much like the Citori White Lightning, but it uses a lightweight aluminum receiver instead of the Citori White Lightning’s steel one. It’s only available in 12-gauge and 20-gauge. The aluminum receiver lowers weight by roughly a pound, so weight ranges from 5 pounds 13 ounces for the 26” 20-gauge up to 7 pounds 2 ounces for the 28” 12-gauge.

Last, but definitely not least, is the flagship Citori Gran Lightning. It’s very much like the Citori White Lightning but with several key upgrades. The walnut is Grade V/VI. That means it’s resplendent. The front sight is a silver bead. And the receiver is something else. It’s deeply engraved with beautiful gold accents.
