The 4+1 capacity Browning Gold 10-gauge autoloaders come in two new for 2021 flavors: Gold Light 10 Gauge Field – Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Habitat and Gold Light 10 Gauge Field – Mossy Oak Break-Up Country. As you might guess from the names, they’re identical except the type of Mossy Oak camouflage. The Shadow Grass Habitat is optimized for tall marsh grasses while the Break-Up Country has an autumn forest look.

Browning Gold has had other models now retired from production. But these two new models feature a redesigned forearm and strong composite stock whose drops have been tweaked for an improved fit. There is also a parallel heel section a professional gunsmith can cut down up to 3/4" while still fitting the Inflex 2 recoil butt pad. This shortens length of pull (LOP) to your precise needs. Both forearm and grip are nicely textured, so you maintain your grip in various conditions, both expected and unexpected.

The aluminum alloy receiver optimizes balancing, handling and portability. It also shaves perhaps a pound versus a corresponding steel receiver. The receiver has a 3-1/2” chamber to handle all 10-gauge ammo.

The gas-operated action and the Inflex recoil pad both do a superb job of recoil mitigation. The barrel uses Standard Invector Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder (F, M, IC) flush interchangeable choke tubes. Underneath, you get a 4-shell capacity tube magazine nicely ensconced in the ergonomically optimized forearm. The matte black alloy trigger is housed in a corresponding matte black alloy trigger guard, and its ventral surface has the characteristic gold Buck Mark. The butt pad and bolt slide are also matte black. But everything else is basically swathed in camo.

The steel barrel has 26” and 28” length variants. The 26” length barrel is 48” total. On top you get a 5/16” vented rib that’s topped and fronted by a silver bead front sight. The composite stock has a 14 1/2" length of pull (LOP), 1 5/8” drop at comb and a 1 7/8” drop at heel and a 9-pound, 9-ounce weight. The 28” barrel gun is the same except overall length is 50” and weight increases an ounce.
