The CZ-USA 452 is a lineup of affordable Czech-made bolt-action .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR rimfire rifles from a classic World War 2 era heritage. These small caliber rifles, except where noted, feature full-length Mannlicher stocks. There are quite many models, so we’ll just sample a few such as the CZ 452 Scout, CZ 452 FS, CZ 452 Ultra Lux .22 LR, CZ 452 Lux .22 LR, CZ 452 American, .22 LR Left Hand, CZ 452 American .17 HMR Left Hand and CZ 452 Grand Finale.

The entry point is the youth-market .22 LR CZ-452 Scout that has a Turkish walnut stock, open sights, an 11mm dovetail groove for optics and a 12? length of pull. It can use 452’s .22 LR 5-round and 10-round magazines but ships standard with a single-shot adapter. This simplicity reduces cost and complexity.

The CZ 452 FS is a .22 WMR or .22 LR with a 21” cold hammer forged barrel, factory milled receiver for 11mm scope rings, and CZ tangent sights. The tangent rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. It ships with a 5-round magazine.

The CZ 452 Ultra Lux .22 LR has an attractive beechwood stock, 10-round magazine, 28” barrel and CZ tangent sights. Except the beechwood stock, it is otherwise the same as the CZ 452 Lux .22 LR that uses walnut instead.

The CZ 452 American .22 LR Left Hand has an American-style straight stock made of Turkish walnut. There is also an integrated scope that uses a 3/8” dovetail for scope rings. The CZ 452 American .17 HMR Left Hand is the same but for .17 HMR ammo. In both cases, the bolt and ejection are on the left.

The last model CZ-USA sold was the CZ 452 Grand Finale. This .22 LR featured nicely done hand-engraved scrollwork on various metal parts like the barrel, receiver bottom and action. It had oil finished American walnut forend and stock, ebony for the front forend trim, deep glossy blue barrels, swivel studs, checkering in pennants on the forend and pistol grip. It was a fitting swan-song to the CZ 452 line and just looked great all around!

These affordable .22 LR and other caliber guns were Made in the Czech Republic. Except the left-hand guns, all have been discontinued and largely replaced by newer CZ-455 models.
