The Charles Daly Triple Threat break open shotgun proves there’s great benefit to descriptive names. It is, you guessed it, a triple barrel shotgun configured with a barrel on top and two below it, forming a visually stable triangle. The top barrel is topped by a red fiber optic sight. The lineup has a quartet of great choices. Three use blued barrels on checkered walnut stocks while the fourth is all black and all synthetic. It’s also all impressive, but so are its three mates.

For 2021, the four models span 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410 bore, all mated to maneuverable 18.5” length blued steel barrels. There is one of each gauge mated to hand oiled checkered wooden forends and stocks and then the 12-gauge also has an all-matte black synthetic stock option. All have SK, IC, M, IM, F choke tubes, albeit of different types and extractors.

All have 3” chambers, 35.5” overall lengths, fixed fiber optic front sights and skeleton paddle manual safeties. The Triple Threat’s firing sequence is right, left and then top.

The .410 bore features a Beretta/Benelli Mobil Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F) choke set. Its three compadres use a Rem Choke Thread MC-5 (SK, IC, M, IM, F).

The stock design varies. The wood stock guns feature hand-oiled walnut with a 14.5” length of pull (LOP). Their drop at comb is 1.125” and drop at heel angles down to 2.125”. The 12-gauge is heaviest at 8.2 pounds. The 20-gauge is 7.2 pounds while the .410 bore weighs a tad less at 8.1 pounds.

The 12-gauge synthetic differs with a 14.75” LOP, 1.375” drop at comb and then a slightly steeper angle to the 2.5” drop at heel. It weighs 8.2 pounds and stands out by virtue of having a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail cresting the receiver.
