The premium Christensen Arms Mesa bolt-action rifle lineup offers many standard attributes and configurations at a “wow!” bang for the buck price. It is lightweight, elegant, features a featherlight contour barrel bedded into a finely contoured carbon fiber composite stock with sporter styling. The barrel is stainless steel and is fronted by a stainless steel radial ported muzzle brake screwed on to a 1/2"x28 TPI thread.

The lightest configured Mesa tips the scales at 6.5 pounds. The heaviest is about 7.3 pounds.

The barrel has a splendid either a tungsten or burnt bronze Cerakote finish as does the radial perforated muzzle brake, so the two components nearly blend into one. There are two stock schemes: one is matte black with what Christensen Arms calls gray on black webbing and the other is green with black and tan webbing. These aren’t spider web patterns but rather random string or dripping paint patterns. The effect is much more beautiful and effective than can be described.

This gun has a sparing audacity. Two details that are wonderfully unusual are the twin-lug bolt and the skeletonized (drilled) bolt arm. The bolt knob and the nitride finished bolt are both spiral fluted while the barrel, in contrast, is perfectly smooth.

More on the barrel: it’s a free-floating featherweight contour design made of 416R stainless steel. The aforementioned muzzle brake is, of course, removable, and the gun comes with a thread protector for when the brake is not in use.

The gun features a Made in Canada TriggerTech trigger known for its high quality and zero-creep movement. It’s factory-set to about 3 pounds of pull.

The gun’s is a 3+1 capacity for Magnum/4+1 capacity for all other chambers and features an internal magazine. The chambers are:

450 Bushmaster (20” barrel; 1 to 16” twist), 6.5 Creedmoor (22” barrel; 1 to 8” twist), 308 Winchester (22” barrel; 1 to 10” twist), 7mm-08 Remington (22” barrel; 1 to 9” twist), 7mm Remington Magnum (24” barrel; 1 to 9” twist), 6.5 PRC (24” barrel; 1 to 8” twist), 300 Winchester Magnum (24” barrel; 1 to 10” twist), 300 PRC (24” barrel; 1 to 8” twist) and 28 Nosler (26” barrel; 1 to 9” twist).

Also the 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Remington and 308 Winchester have left-handed versions.

All the quality components and the attention paid to the gun’s design and manufacturing details permits Christiansen to guarantee sub-MOA performance for all but the 450 Bushmaster. Thus for all but the 450, using premium ammunition, the Mesa can shoot a group of three rounds within an inch at up to 100 yards. In back is a thickly spaced rubber butt pad.
