Daniel Defense V11 Rifle Basics

The Daniel Defense M4 Carbine V11 is based on the weapons manufacturer's V9 series. The Daniel Defense V11 is a U.S.-made 5.56mm NATO caliber rifle. In factory condition, it weighs 6.28 pounds and is between 32.25 and 35.88 inches long, depending on specifications. It boasts a mid-length gas system and a muzzle thread of 1/2x28 threads per inch. The rail is a 15-inch, DDM4 quad rail over a 16-inch cold hammer. The extended rail allows the shooter plenty of room for optics, sights and gun accessories add-ons. Other features of the Daniel Defense V11 include a flash suppressor, an M16 bolt carrier group and the newly designed Daniel Defense buttstock and pistol grip.

Daniel Defense is named after founder Marty Daniel, who went into business for himself after college running a garage door and fireplace company out of his garage. A friend's invitation to blow off some steam at the shooting range is what led Daniel to firearms. Daniel began spending all of his time at the gun range, which led him to realize the need for a flattop upper receiver. Daniel, an electrical engineer, dubbed his design the Big Hole Upper, and its success led to incorporation for the company in 2001. Fast forward to today, and Daniel Defense has been awarded U.S. SOCOM contracts (2005), been solicited by the U.K., created a hunting division, and built two centers of operation in Georgia and South Carolina.
