The full size 8+1 .45 ACP EAA Girsan MC1911 S Gold Lux is imported into the USA by EAA. EAA stands for European American Armory Corporation and is based in Cocoa, Florida. The Girsan 1911 Gold Lux is Made in Turkey by Girsan, which started operations in 1993 in the Black Sea city of Giresun in northeastern Turkey.

The single-action 1911 Gold Lux is rugged and feature rich. Don’t let the over the top gold on black looks fool you: all things considered, it’s more affordable than it looks.

The gun is full-sized and has classic “Government” dimensions. Thus, it has a 5.00” long competition barrel and an 8.75” overall length. Height is 5.9” while width is 1.22”. Weight tips in at 2.55 pounds.

The 1911 Gold Lux is based on the MC1911 S Lux. It eschews the matte finish of most guns for brilliant resplendence. Girsan made the slide absolutely glisten. Both slide and frame are engraved with elegant, decorative scrolls that evoke arms from prior centuries. There’s a small amount of scrolling on the slide’s front and back and on the frame just above the trigger. The best section is the elegant flourish scrolling in along the slide flanks in between the front and rear clusters of grip serrations. The result is literally a brilliant gun that’ll grab admiring glances at the shooting range!

Other standout features? The thumb safety is ambidextrous! The otherwise solid competition trigger has a pair of jelly bean lightening ports. The gun has black fantail pattern polymer grips and front and back dovetailed blackout sights. The rear one is a fully adjustable parcel shelf type with rear-anti-glare horizontal serrations.

Otherwise, the gun is a fairly standard 1911. It has the usual lowered and beveled ejection port, diagonal slide serrations in front and back, long loop hammer, a nicely upturned beavertail, grip safety, and slide stop on the left. The trigger sits in the classic oval trigger guard. The frame’s grip has a sharp standard corner at the bottom.
