The compact and affordable H&R 1871 Pardner single shot break-action shotgun covers 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410 bore. [A 16-gauge was offered in the past but not currently.] There is also a H&R 1871 Pardner Compact we’ll get to further down.

The 12-gauge is available in an elegant 32” long barrel and a shorter 28” barreled version. These measure 47” and 43” overall respectively. The 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410 bore come only with a 26” barrel and 41” overall length.

The 28-gauge uses a 2 ¾” chamber while the three others use 3” chambers. Other differences? The 12-gauge and 20-gauge use modified or full chokes. The 28-gauge has a modified choke while the .410 uses a full choke.

All models have a 14” length of pull, 1 ½” drop at comb, 2” drop at heel and weigh in the range of 5 to 6 pounds. They feature a front bead sight over their blued metal barrels. The receivers are classically blued too! You get an American hardwood forend and stock that are given a walnut finish. The stock is American-style with a gently curved and slightly flared pistol grip. It’s worth noting that neither the forend nor stock is textured.

The H&R 1871 Pardner’s roots hark back to 1893. This beautiful package is lightweight, reliable, accurate and maneuverable. It’s easy on the pocketbook and easy on maintenance.

This Harrington & Richardson rifle’s lookup is ironclad. It also has a transfer bar safety. So, if you drop this gun while it’s loaded, it shouldn’t go off. These guns also come with a locking device!

The Pardner features a side lever release and automatic ejection. Break open the gun and spent casings fling free.

The H&R 1871 Pardner Compact is like the standard Pardner, but with shorter dimensions geared to the youth market. You can get it in 20-gauge and .410 bore. The barrel is 22”, length of pull is only 12 ½”, drop at comb is 1 ½”, drop at heel is 2”, overall length is 36” and weight is 5 to 5.5 pounds.
