The Henry Repeating Arms Lever range of lever-action rimfire rifles is embodied by the Classic Lever-Action .22, the compact Classic Lever-Action .22 Carbine and the even smaller Lever-Action .22 Youth. All have a tube magazine ending just short of the front of the barrel firing .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle (.22 S/L/LR) ammo.

There are also a few other models such as the Classic Lever-Action .22 Magnum that fires .22 WMR, the Varmint Express .17 HMR, the Lever-Action Octagon Frontier for .22 S/L/LR, .22 Magnum and .17 HMR. And there are three .22 S/L/LR or .22 Magnum choices: the brushed nickel Frontier Carbine “Evil Roy” Edition, the Small Game Rifle and the Small Game Carbine.

All are affordable. Except where noted, most share traits such as the 1:16 twist ratio rounded matte blued steel barrels, matte black receivers, and attractive American walnut stock. The loop lever, sights and barrel bands are matte black too!

Above the barrel, you’ll find a hooded blade front sight and fully adjustable Semi-Buckhorn sight with a reversible white diamond insert. You can adjust it for windage and elevation. The sight is dovetailed. Thus, windage adjustments are by tapping the sight. For elevation, one slides the elevator back and forth along the notches. And in back is a 1/4 cock safety hammer.

The well-designed receiver includes integrated 3/8” scope mount grooves. But, naturally, Henry also thought to include 3/8” ring mounts too. So, mounting your favorite compatible scope or one you acquire should be easy.

For most models, the slim and straight forend integrates nicely with the receiver. This pairs with a straight grip buttstock slanting straight from trigger to bottom corner. Let’s examine a few model specifications.

The standard Classic Lever-Action .22 has an 18.5” barrel, 14” length-of-pull (LOP), and capacity is 15 x .22 LR, 17 x .22 L and 21 x .22 S. It weighs 5.25 pounds.

The compact Classic Lever-Action .22 Carbine’s barrel is 16.125" long. LOP is 14” and overall length is 34”. It has an oversize loop lever! Naturally, with a shorter gun, capacity is less at 12 x .22 LR and 16 x .22 S and weight is just 4.5 pounds. It’s otherwise like the aforementioned standard model.

The Lever-Action .22 Youth is the same as above in capacity, materials, etc. However, LOP is just 13”. This drops overall length an inch as well down to 33”.

The Classic Lever-Action .22 Magnum can fit 11 rounds of .22 WMR in its tube magazine, and the stock features checkered hatching on the forend and grip. It has a 1:16 twist ratio 19.25” barrel, 14” LOP, 37.5” overall length and weighs 5.5 pounds. It’s otherwise the same as the standard model.

The Varmint Express .17 HMR fires fast and flat .17 HMR ammo. Twist ratio is 1:9. The gun is equipped with slick fiber optic Williams Fire Sights in both front and back. Otherwise, it is the same as the .22 Magnum.

Even these five models don’t cover the entire range. There is also the Lever-Action Octagon Frontier for .22 S/L/LR, .22 Magnum and .17 HMR and three .22 S/L/LR or .22 Magnum choices: the brushed nickel Frontier Carbine “Evil Roy” Edition, the Small Game Rifle and the Small Game Carbine.
