Henry Repeating Arms Company’s Lever X Model .45-70 takes the functionality of its lever-action repeating arms technology whose roots are over 160 years and combines it with modern polymer furniture, fiber optic sights, M-LOK slots and a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail. In doing so, it swaps shiny brass and gleaming American walnut for matte black.

The .45-70 X Model has a four round capacity. It has a thick 19.8” long blued steel barrel with a long 1:20 rate of twist and a 5/8”x24 TPI thread on the front. It has a 14” length of pull, 38.6” overall length and tips the scales at 7.4 pounds.

This gun evokes its US Civil War and Wild West heritage but functions with the slick reliable operability and smooth action of modern technology. The gun has a dovetailed fiber optic front sight atop a ramp. Its rear fiber optic counterpart is fully adjustable for windage and elevation and also sits atop a ramp for increased elevation. Speaking of sights, the gun is drilled and tapped for scopes and has a Weaver 63B scope mount.

The receiver is blued steel, both forend and buttstock are matte black polymer synthetic and the buttpad is a black solid rubber recoil pad that’s designed for comfort! The forend has been cleverly designed with a nice bulge for optimal grip. The forward portion of it has an M-LOK slot on either side and below is a 4-slot Picatinny rail.
