The Jericho 941 is a broad lineup of Israeli semi-automatics chambered in 9x19mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. You can get them in steel or polymer frames, and full-size, short and compact models, all with high-capacity double-stack architecture, reversible magazine releases and interchangeable backstraps. There are double-action/single-action (DA/SA) and single-action only (SAO) models. The guns can be had in matte black, matte desert or matte green.

Jericho 941s have adjustable sights and an under-muzzle Picatinny rail for accessories. They have downturned beavertails, high grips, squared trigger guards, low profile front sights and ramped rear sights. The sights are fixed. There are optional tritium night sights. There are other options too such as a much-appreciated loaded chamber indicator, lanyard swivel and a compensator. All 941s have curved palmswells for superior ergonomics, control and comfort.

The lineup features R and F models. The R models (full-size R, semi-compact RS and compact RB) have an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocking lever while the F models feature a simpler frame-mounted safety (full-size F, semi-compact FS and compact FB). Note: the polymer frame models have similar names but then end with the letter “L”. Thus, the RBL is the compact R model with the polymer frame. Also a quartet of polymer models have finger grooves and include “P” in the model name.

The full-size Jerichos are built around 4.4” barrels and are 8.1” overall. The semi-compact models have 3.8” barrels and are 7.6” overall and compact models have more easily concealable dimensions wrapped around 3.5” barrels and measure 7.2” overall. Weights vary considerably. For instance, the full-size steel models tip scales at about 38 ounces while the full-size polymer comes in at 27.5 ounces, making it about 28% lighter!

Note: the older Jericho II series guns had finger grooves on the grips and more slots in their Picatinny rails.

The Jericho semi-automatic has its roots in the CZ-75, developed in what was then Czechoslovakia in 1975. The remarkably innovative Czech gun couldn’t be patented outside that country, which led to a raft of clones including the Jericho.

The town of Jericho is under 20 straight-line miles northeast of Jerusalem. The town of Biblical legend and of 20,000 souls is one of the world’s oldest settlements and is over 10,000 years old. With such a name, it’s hardly surprising that the Jericho 941 single-action/double-action handgun is made by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) located in nearby Ramat HaSharon in suburban Tel Aviv.

IWI founded in 1933. It enjoys naming its products after historical places such as Masada and Tavor. Obviously, the Jericho is no exception.

The lineup is a law-enforcement favorite in Israel and elsewhere. It’s also popular for self-protection.
