The Kimber Pro Covert II is a .45 ACP M1911A1-type semi-automatic pistol, and with its charcoal gray KimPro II finish and gray palette camouflage G10 grips, it’s an understated beauty. The gun is feature-rich, high quality and optimized for concealed carry. And for its size, it’s light. The Kimber Pro Covert II has a sight radius of 5.7” between its tactical wedge tritium night sights. The “Pro” designation in this Kimber refers to its full size frame but shorter barrel and slide. Thus its key measures are its 7.7” length, 5.25” height and its 4.0” long barrel. The barrel is made of stainless steel and has a 1 to 16” twist.

The gun is a single-stack design and comes with a 7-round magazine. Width is just 1.28”. Thanks to its aluminum frame, the Pro Covert II weighs only 28 ounces even when loaded with an empty magazine.

The Pro Covert II has primary controls on the left. This includes the thumb safety, slide lock and magazine release button. At back is an elegant beavertail safety with horizontal wave grooving.

The match-grade three-hole aluminum trigger has a predictable clean break with a factory setting of roughly 4 to 5 pounds. Befitting a gun of this power and size, the Kimber’s recoil spring has a 22.0 pound resistance and a full-length guide rod. These lower felt-recoil and muzzle flip, thus making the Pro Covert II easier to use with faster follow up shots.

Both the stainless steel slide and the aluminum frame have an in-house KimberPro II charcoal gray finish.

The grip has nice patterns. The frontstrap has 30 lines-per-inch checkers. The backstrap is also checkered. But it’s the G10 side grips that are discussion worthy. They are made by Crimson Trace. They’re actually what Crimson Trace calls “Lasergrips” since they include an integrated red dot sight atop the right grip. And the company calls its fascinating gray palette camo pattern Urban Camouflage.
