The Kimber Advanced Tactical SOC II is a .5 MOA accuracy guaranteed single-bolt action rifle with jaw-dropping looks available in 6.5 Creedmore or .308 Winchester calibers. SOC stands for Special Operations Capable. The name gives away the game that it’s optimized for law enforcement and military use. Less obvious is that this gun is hand-built.

Let’s discuss looks and function. Color schemes for the M-LOK handguard, over-barrel M-LOK attachment, receiver and stock are either sniper gray or FDE. These components are all joined in sequence and create a nice horizontal line. Another nice touch is how the handguard’s M-LOK openings are echoed by matching ovoid recesses on the receiver. Everything else such as the barrel, bolt, scope mount, magazine, pistol grip and the thick buttpad are all black.

The SOC II’s design makes it very customizable. The gun has a trio of mounts. It comes without sights, but atop the receiver is a night-scope mount. Under the receiver sits a 1913 MIL SPEC tripod mount. And then suspended over the barrel, but attached to the M-LOK handguard underneath is a 10-slot 1913 MIL SPEC accessory rail.

The SOC II’s stainless steel barrel is matte black KimPro II finished. It’s 22” long and has four grooves and a match-grade chamber. The muzzle is threaded with a 5/8” x 24 TPI thread and comes standard with a muzzle protector. The two calibers have almost all the same metrics. However for the 6.5 Creedmore, the twist rate is 1 to 8” RH while the .308 Winchester is 1 to 10” RH. In either guise, the SOC II weighs about 11 pounds, 8 ounces.

The SOC II’s aluminum stock has a beautiful black anodized finish. It’s fully adjustable for comb and heel and has a four-point adjustment cheek weld. The stock folds for portability and has an easily viewed McCree embedded M-LEV Cant Indicator to optimize leveling and gun alignment for distances where a minute difference can mean missing the mark. Length of pull is 13.7”.

The ultra-light trigger is factory set to 2.5 pounds. The black pistol grip is lightly textured with a good palm swell and three finger recesses along the front.

The gun ships with a five-round detachable box magazine but accepts other ones too. Finally, Kimber’s factory is in Yonkers, New York. The Kimber Advanced Tactical SOC II is Made in USA.
