Known for producing machine pistols and for popularizing submachine guns, Ingram titled the pistol the “M10" however MAC 10 became such a common stand-in that it is used more frequently in industry literature.
Built almost entirely from steel stampings, the MAC 10 features a notched cocking handle that can also turn to lock the bold and indicate that the weapon cannot fire. A telescoping bolt wraps around the barrel of the pistol, making it very compact and balancing the overall weight of the weapon. The MAC 10 gained most of its recognition due to its success incorporation of a revolutionary suppressor. The suppressor made the weapon's full automatic discharge extremely quiet and also added weight that helped to control the felt recoil.
The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban meant a redesign for the MAC 10 whose new edition was released as the PM11/9 and could no longer accept a suppressor or use magazines larger than 10 rounds.
