Magnum Research makes a compelling lineup of lightweight and accurate 10+1 .22 LR and 9+1 .22 WMR semi-automatic rifles. The Made in USA rimfire guns have thick contour carbon, aluminum, stainless or carbon weave grooved barrels measuring 17.0” to 20.5”. They have overall lengths of 35.5” to 39.0” and weigh between 4 to 7 pounds depending on these attributes and stock type. Magnum protects all its barrels with an 11-degree crown. And these guns come with a 14-slot Picatinny rail for sights that’s integral to the receiver.

Magnum Lites are gas-assisted blowback operated and have gas vents near the rear of the barrel.

The carbon weave barrels stand out visually as they are bracketed by stainless sections in front and back, and they’re threaded to boot. There are also all-stainless and black tensioned aluminum barrels available.

The stocks are quite amazing too. All are thumbhole stocks. Choices include an ambidextrous black polymer stock. It has an integrated cheek riser, a full thumbhole and butt that’s not open but bowled in from both sides. It has an upgraded trigger, an oval trigger guard and continues forward in one piece to morph into the forend. The forend hangs below the barrel rather than mating to it continuously. The grip is vertical like an M1911’s.

There are several right-handed wood laminate stocks a bit different from the black polymer one: they are black pepper, the dark and rich American black walnut, forest camo and light golden barracuda nutmeg. These stocks have an open butt and an oval thumbhole. While the entire stock is one piece, the shape of the forend is also a bit different from the aforementioned polymer stock.

The .22 WMR has its own black polymer stock. It’s Hogue’s overmolded black stock, and it has a more traditional curved grip and comes with swivel studs.

All Magnum Lites use the firm’s Switchbolt receivers. They’re machined of extruded 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and hard coat anodized for ruggedizing and durability. As already mentioned, these Switchbolt receivers have with integral accessory rail.

The gun’s 9 and 10-round rotary magazines were designed and made by Ruger.
