Metro Arms’ single-action .45 ACP MAC 1911 8+1 semi-automatic turns heads with its hard-chrome frame. The full-size pistol also has deep blue (matte black) or black chrome finished models. The black chrome model has a deep blue frame and a hard chrome slide that stands out because of its black slide serrations.

The gun is made by Metro Arms Corporation, based in metro-Manilla in the Philippines. Thanks to its overseas construction, it’s remarkably affordable and value laden.

The MAC 1911’s materials are high-strength, uniform in hardness and durable. The slide is 4140 hammer forged steel. The frame is also 4140 steel. 4140 means it’s tough, impact-resistant chromium-molybdenum alloy steel.

Regardless of color scheme, this single-stack pistol comes with a long, flat, fully adjustable Bomar rear sight and a front fiber optic sight dovetailed atop the long, flattop slide. It features both a skeletonized loop hammer and a triple ported horizontally serrated trigger, lowered and beveled ejection port, flared magazine well for easy magazine swaps, extended upturned beavertail, grip safety, medium width diagonal slide serrations in both front and back, ambidextrous thumb safety, finger recesses on the grip behind the trigger and more of the styling and features that 1911 lovers cherish with good cause.

The 5” long ramped match-grade bull barrel is enshrouded by a package 8.88” long, 5.56” tall and 1.25” wide. The gun’s total weight is 40.6 ounces or just over 2.5 pounds. With heft comes stability, solid feel and decreased felt recoil.

As already mentioned, the boxy flatted Bomar rear sight is fully adjustable and very low in profile. Its expressed advantage is how far back its rear blade sits, which increases the sight radius, thus bequeathing improved accuracy for target shooting.

The grips are deeply checkered rich custom hardwood that ensure excellent grip. They attach with a pair of flat-head screws in the usual top and bottom positions but differ from the regular double-diamonds by lacking the double-diamond screw surrounds. In the center is the Mac logo.
