Mossberg History

As the oldest family-owned firearms manufacturer in the US, O.F. Mossberg & Sons has specialized in rifles, shotguns, scopes and accessories since 1919. Oscar Frederick Mossberg migrated from Sweden to the US in 1886 and before founding his own company had worked for Iver Johnson, a bicycle manufacturer later famous for his revolver design. Mossberg’s first firearm design was known as the Brownie, a four barrelled .22 caliber handgun. The Brownie was so successful it prompted a full line of .22 caliber rifles and shotguns as well as rifle scopes and other related accessories.

Beyond the core business of making firearms, O.F. Mossberg & Sons also manufactured sail boats, golf clubs, campers and of course gun racks.
