The Mossberg 590 Shockwave Laser Saddle 12-gauge and 20-gauge 5+1 capacity pump-action pistol grip firearm combines very compact dimensions, ease of use, balance and maneuverability into a tactical home defense and fun shooting range package. This matte black raptor head grip gun is imminently affordable and works hard to please.

But the main difference between the 590 Shockwave Laser Saddle and the standard 590 Shockwave is the Crimson Trace laser saddle that straddles over the receiver’s vault. It attaches seamlessly to the receiver. It has a 5mW Class 3R Red Laser beam which is the brightest beam allowed by law. This component is an ergonomic masterpiece you can adjust for elevation and windage and three different instant activation points all along the saddle’s left side and right side in easy thumb reach. So, it’s ambidextrous too! There is also a mater on/off switch that powers the system on or off.

The batter compartment is external, which simplifies swapping batteries, of which it uses two CR-2032 disc batteries good for three hours of usage. The entire thing measures 1” wide, 2.5” tall, 6” long and weighs 6.38 ounces. Crimson Trace designed the laser saddle to not interfere with the tang safety or top rails.

Its dual extractors mean spent casings await easy removal when you break open the gun. The magazine cap is serrated for a good grip. The gun also has sling swivel studs in front and back. It also has a cleanout tube and a drilled and tapped receiver.

The 12-gauge and 20-gauge are virtually indistinguishable except in their barrel bore, barrel circumference and weights. The 12-gauge tips the scales lightly at 6.0 pounds. With its slightly narrower barrel, the 20-gauge is lighter and comes in at 5.75 pounds.
