The Mossberg 930 Tactical – 8 Shot SPX and 930 Tactical – 8 Shot SPX – Pistol Grip 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun has an 18.5” barrel, 3” chamber, polymer forend and stock and is available in all black. This means black on the synthetic parts and blued finishes on the metal components.

With the emphasis on utilization in tight spaces, these guns have shorter barrels and are lighter in weight than their longer-barreled competitors. Thus, these are easier to maneuver and lighter to carry around.

With this 930, you get a tough synthetic stock and forearm, and an excellent skeletonized ventilated non-slip recoil pad at back.

Atop the barrel, you get high-profile fully adjustable rifle sights with the rear sights sitting on an MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail accessory rail above the drilled and tapped receiver. The rear sight is an adjustable ghost ring while the front sight is fiber optic. You get a tang safety, front and back studs, and excellent texturing on the forend and stock.

All Mossberg 930s benefit from the system’s dual gas-vent system and the oversized charging handle knob that’s knurled and extended so it’s easy to grip with gloves in all kinds of conditions.

Then there is the 930 Tactical – 8 Shot SPX – Pistol Grip. The eponymous name gives away the game. This has a pistol grip in lieu of the curved grip. The stock is different and has a flat heel. The black synthetic pistol grip has nice texturing and three perfectly contoured finger recesses. The length of pull shortens a tad to 13.75”, and overall length is 38.75” while weight drops to 7.25 pounds. There are two variants of this type: FDE (field dark earth) and all black. The FDE variant has an FDE finished barrel, magazine tube and receiver, though everything else is matte black. No surprise: the other one is all matte black.
