The 9+1 12-gauge Mossberg 940 JM Pro competition-geared autoloader shotgun was designed in concert with world champion speed shooter Jerry Miculek. The result is a very fast and very good-looking shotgun. A key part of this is the loading port. It’s been beveled and enlarged to make quad-loading easy. The 940 JM Pro also benefits from an elongated pinch-free elevator and a nicely visible bright orange follower.
The attractive receivers are anodized in black or tungsten gray. The polymer stock and forend are available in matte black or multi-cam, which is a black-palette camouflage. Speaking of which, the gun’s grip and forend are nicely texturized. Particularly appealing are the brass plated parts such as tang safety, trigger, operating handle, bolt release, magazine tube extension nut, etc.
The gun has a 3” chamber, 24” matte blued barrel, 44.75” overall length and weighs 7.75 pounds.
Atop the barrel is a vent rib that sits atop slightly diagonal pylons. The rib, in turn, is topped by a HIVIZ front fiber optic sight for fast and precise target acquisition. The gun is threaded to accept the included Briley extended chokes.
The gas system was designed for durability and a 1,500-round cycle before needing cleaning. Along the same lines, the gun’s internal parts are nickel boron-coated for assured smooth operations. The gun also has a competition-level loading port, elevator and follower.
In back, the stock is user-adjustable from 13.0” to 14.25” using stock shims. The comb is also adjustable using shims.
While the standard gun is 9+1, there is also a 5+1 crimped/plugged magazine tube model.
