It has taken Mossberg 100 years to make a concealed carry firearm, but now with the Mossberg MC1sc, it joins this important category with a terrific firearm. In fact, the MC1sc is not just one entry, but a family of seven variants and a total of 10 models.

Let’s start with what they all share in common. All 10 models are 9 mm subcompact semi-automatic pistols, hence the “sc” tag for subcompact. All feature the same six groove button rifled 3.4” barrel with a 1 to 16” twist ratio, a 5.4” sight radius and an overall length of 6.25”. Other key dimensions for the Mossberg MC1scs are the 4.3” height and 1.03” width. All can handle either a 6 round flush mounted magazine or a 7 round extended magazine.

These are stubby guns designed for snag-free conceal carry and quick firing. Thus they have a barrel vaulted slide with diagonal serrations at front and back, tight build tolerances, gentle curves near the muzzle, a rounded trigger guard, integrated trigger blade safety, stippled grip pads and flat profile trigger with a trigger pull of 5-6 pounds and a docked beavertail rear.

Now let’s talk about a few things common to nearly all members of this family before detailing the variants. Most of the Mossberg MC1sc guns weigh 19 ounces unloaded and 22 ounces loaded. Most come with white three dot sights. Most have matte black frames, 416 DLC coated barrels and slides. Now we can discuss their differences.

The standard MC1sc has a color variant that comes with the slide and frame in flat dark earth (FDE), but it’s otherwise the same as the standard black MC1sc. Next, model #89007 MC1sc – MA Compliant is, you guessed it, Massachusetts regulations compliant, and thus features a loaded chamber view port.

Models #89002 and #89010 both add a cross-bolt safety behind the trigger. The former is black while the latter is FDE. Model #89006 is two tone with a stainless steel slide atop the standard black frame. #89008 is also two tone with a stainless steel slide atop the standard black frame, but then it adds a cross-bolt safety.

It’s the last three models that are perhaps the most interesting because they are the most high-tech. #89003 MC1sc TRUGLO Tritium PRO Sights has the vaunted TruGlo night sights at front and back. #89011 is the same but features the slide and frame both finished in FDE.

And finally #89004 MC1sc VIRIDIAN Laser Equipped has a factory installed Viridian red dot laser that’s just aft of and integrated with the trigger guard. It’s a feather weight and only adds .8 ounces to the gun’s overall weight.
