The Remington Model 1100 Sporting autoloading shotgun spans 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410 bore. It’s part of the wider Remington Model 1100 lineup that’s incredibly popular with trap/skeet/sport shooters because it hits the bullseye on price, reliability, availability and features. The type originated in 1963 as a gas-operated 4+1 capacity shotgun. Remington made millions before ending production thanks to its 2020 bankruptcy.

The Remington 1100 shotgun lineup established the era of the reliable, highly successful gas-operated auto-loading shotguns, and earned the Remington 1100 a spot in the pantheon of America’s all-time best-selling semi-automatic shotguns.

Remington made many 1100 models (or “Grades” per Remington). But the 1100 Sporting has a splendid look of truly eye-catching beautifully polished American walnut for the forend and the curved grip stock, polished blued barrels and blued receivers, and a straight-pylon supported vent rib. You get both a front bead and mid-bead. The last models had gold-plated triggers though older models were black.

All four come with Light Modified, Modified, Skeet, Improved Cylinder (LM, M, S, IC) chokes, a crossbolt safety and share a 14” length of pull.

The 12-gauge and 20-gauge have 28” barrels, 49” overall lengths and weigh 8 pounds and 7 pounds respectively.

The 28-gauge and .410 bore have a 27” barrels, 47.75” overall lengths and weigh 6.75 and 6.5 pounds respectively.

The blued receivers have 2 ¾” chambers for 12-gauge and 20-gauge while the 28-gauge and .410 bore back to 3” chambers.
