The Remington 547 6+1 .22 LR and 5+1 .17 HMR bolt-action rimfire rifle debuted in 2008 as an evolution of Remington’s 504 rifle platform. The rifle comes to us from the Remington Custom Shop, where Remingtons get a little extra attention to detail, master-craftsmanship, design enhancements and more. The final product shows Remington baked in refinements in production and looks to more closely evoke the extraordinarily popular Remington 700 series.

To strengthen the connection to the famed 700, the 547 now uses a one-piece bolt handle that looks like the one on the 700. Bonus: one piece makes it stronger too!

The straight comb walnut stock has an eye-catching satin finish, black forend tip, black grip cap and nicely done checkering. The result is also an homage to the 700’s style. The high-polished blued carbon steel barrel is 22” long. Overall length is 39.5” and weight is 6.25 pounds.

The 547’s receiver has a high-polish blued finish, rear lock-up design, dual extractors and twin takedown screws. It’s is machined out of a solid bar of steel for enhanced rigidity, accuracy and durability. Remington notes it uses an advanced barrel clamp that ensures an enhanced action-to-barrel lock.

The barrel is special with a multitude of attributes. For starters, it’s made by well-known barrel maker Shilen. Note the front. It has a concave muzzle crown to protect the barrel from damage. The hand-lapped carbon steel barrel is button rifled and ends in a match chamber for the .22 LR and a high-precision chamber for .17 HMR.

547 triggers are hand-tuned to a 3.0-pound pull pressure. And nearby, 547s feature metal box magazines that slam flush mount up into the rifles. Capacity is 6-rounds of .22 LR ammo or 5-rounds of .17 HMR.

Between this fine attention to detail and the barrel’s quality that combine with the gun’s other traits, the result is sub-MOA accuracy at 100 yards. Not only does Remington test fire the fully assembled guns in-house before shipping them out, they send the test target results along too! That’s stellar quality!
