Remington has now been operating for over 200 years. One mainstay is the beloved and very popular Remington 700, in constant production since 1962. Now over 5,000,000 have been made. The 700 is the basis for Remington 721 and 722 sniper guns and is made in the town of Ilion, New York.

Though the gun has been around for decades, Remington has reinvested in improved tooling to make the weapon to tighter tolerances and standards.

Rather than being one model, the 700 is a family of guns. This includes the Monte Carlo-style walnut stock Model 700 Custom ""C"", Model 700 North American Custom, Model 700 North American SS Custom, stainless steel and bipod-ready Model 700 Custom Sendero and desert camo Model 700 SIXSITE Edition.

The 700s come in variety of calibers, barrel lengths and magazines.

One standout is the limited edition bolt-action 6.5 Creedmoor Remington 700 NRA American Hunter, a collaboration between Remington and the NRA. It’s an elegant 4+1 20” long barrel on a polymer olive drab stock. It’s fluted for strength and rigidity, is five groove threaded and has a 1 to 8” twist rate. Overall length is 39.375” and weight is 6.75 pounds.

Though this gun doesn’t come with sights or a scope, atop the gun are mounts for Leupold Mark 4 type scopes. The 700 has the Premium Bell & Carlson stock with an aluminum bedding block for rigidity and weight reduction and a clean breaking adjustable X Mark Pro trigger adjustable for 3.5 to 5 pounds of pull. Its special butt stock reduces felt recoil by over half.

The desert camo Model 700 SIXSITE Edition has interesting “skip” fluting along the barrel. Eschewing the normal columnar fluting of other fluted barrels, this one has rectangular indents in several lines along the length of the copper Cerakoted barrel. It also has dorsal and ventral accessory rails and comes standard with a scope.

The Model 700 VTR has 20 models in five different groups covering four different calibers! The calibers are .223 Remington (5+1 capacity; 1:9” twist), .22-250 Remington (4+1; 1:14), .260 Remington (4+1; 1:8) and .308 Winchester (4+1; 1:10). All have a matte blued 22” long carbon steel barrel. This distinctive barrel has a rounded corner triangular cross section and is triple ported above the muzzle. The forend has triple ports on it too! The 700 VTRs are 41.625” long, weigh 7.625 pounds, have a 13.375” length of pull and a flat dark earth (FDE) stock.
