The entry-level Remington Model 710 centerfire bolt-action rifle derives from the very famous Remington 700 series (over 5,000,000 made). The 710 saw five years of production spanning 2001 to 2006.

The rifle has nice styling with either all black for the metal parts set on a flat gray stock or the same set on an OD green stock. Regardless of color, the synthetic stock has nice contouring around the grip. It has the same texturing from front to back, swivel studs in front and back and ends in a gently contoured buttpad. There’s a two-position F/S safety at the base of the bolt arm, and a spherical bolt knob punctuates the bolt arm.

Remington launched the 710 with 270 Winchester and 30-06 Springfield when production started in 2001. It added 300 Winchester Magnum and 7mm Remington Magnum in 2004 and finally 243 Winchester in the last year of production.

The first two models had a 4+1 capacity, 22” long barrels and 42.5” overall lengths. They weighed 7.125 pounds. The 3+1 capacity 300 Winchester Magnum and 7mm Remington Magnum models had longer with 24” barrels and weighed a smidge more. More detailed specifications on these two models and other variants aren’t available at this time of writing, however.

You can find limited availability 710s with Excel camouflage or Realtree Hardwoods Green camouflage. The gun came new without a scope. However, you could get an optional Bushnell Sharpshooter 3-9x40 factory-mounted scope that was quite popular with buyers.

The 710s used a three-lug breech locking system instead of the 700’s two-lug design. Keeping price down, the receiver was polymer during all but the last year of production when Remington migrated up to a steel receiver instead.
